International Day for People Living with a Disability 2019

This day was created back in 1981 to enhance understanding & to create a call to action within society to be equal with EVERYONE! It originally was to only last a decade as it was for the government to implement different measures to help support the disabled community & as the decade came to an end it was made an official day/date on December 3rd, 1992 & it has been carried on throughout the years! Why is it so important to me? I was diagnosed with disability on September 16, 2016, & I guess a lot of people wouldn’t think I am if I didn’t talk so openly about it.…

What you aren’t Changing you are Choosing

Now…What are you going to do about that?   What are you going to do about your mental health…Change some aspects of your life now, so you can get better or not change anything & continue to struggle? You don’t have to do this on your own & some situations are difficult to change or get out of & so you can’t just dot it, but you can reach out to someone, seek advice & help. I talk a lot about seeking help, my personal experience with it, how it changed my life for the better & I am starting to get more passionate about sharing what it means to…

    LIPTEMBER

WHATS ON YOUR MIND?   It can be really hard to talk about how you’re feeling. We don’t always understand how we feel, let alone be able to express it to another person. It’s okay to take the time to work out what is going on. Therapy doesn’t always mean you go sit in a room & talk with a psychologist. It can mean you step out of your routine, allow days & time to gather your thoughts, take a step back & reflect.   Ditch the Day to Day    Stepping out of the daily routine & changing it up can really increase your chances of refreshing your perspective…

You Are More Than What You Tell Yourself

Here I am, standing confidently & happy with who I am. I wasn’t always confident to be myself, to be independent. My disability requires me to live a little differently & sometimes need assistance, if not I could get hurt & the stress gets quite overwhelming. Because of this sudden shift in lifestyle I struggled with my perspective at first. As I got older I learnt to accept RP as a good part of who I am & not a hideous flaw that makes me less of a person. Once I started accepting it & stopped worrying what others would say & think, I could then start to become my…

    Mental Health Awareness

May is Mental Health Awareness Month & I sat down with Tyler Hobson to talk about his experience with Depression,  Anxiety & how it effects him at work in the construction Industry.   Statements & Statistics – Those who are in the construction industry are more likely to die from suicide then a workplace accident. Construction workers are twice as likely to commit suicide then other people in Australia. Australian businesses are losing money by neglecting to address mental health in this industry – Aprox $10 billion is lost annually. 1 in 4 people have experienced depression or anxiety so it’s quite likely in your workplace there is many…

    What Message are you sending?

I have a voice on social media. I discuss topics that are relevant to my life at the time or from my past, sharing my truth & reality! I will always continue to share my perspective because it can encourage people & share important messages along the way. I want to send KIND & RESPECTFUL messages through what I post & share with you all! I want people to be able to be confident with themselves. To stand strong with their voice, as long as they are respecting that others will have different opinions/beliefs because not everyone will agree with you & you need to be okay with that. I…
